Get the Jeep Edge!

Welcome!
I’ve put together this website, to show my experiences with my TWO 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokees. I bought my wife one, and I loved driving it so much over my 1995, that I had to buy one for myself. As a former Master ASE certified technician, I’ve come to realize what is usually a fluke problem/repair and what is a common problem that can happen with the majority of the same vehicle.
In 1990, the company I worked for had about 25 Ford Tempos that traveled all over the southeast. We kept having a problem with one of the belt pulleys coming apart and leaving our drivers stranded. The dealerships kept telling us that there was not a problem. After several occurences, you start to realize, there is a problem and they are either uninformed. Or they are just hiding it. Finally one day, we had one break down in Florida. After speaking with the service advisor, he told me, Oh yeah, this is happening all over the place. Of course I kind of already knew this, but it was nice to finally hear it!
But now, with Google, you just can’t hide problems as easy. If something is recurring, you can probably find someone else who is in the same boat.
There are problems with just about every vehicle. Some worse than others. Some cost more to repair than others due to price of parts, and sometimes just labor because of design or status. Usually, first year vehicles should be avoided. It seems to always take at least a year or two to get the kinks worked out. I guess I should have taken my own advice on this one. Because the 2005 models were a total makeover. As much as I love driving my jeeps, they just have things that you should not be having a problem with. Like the inside door handles. Lots more to come on that.
Stay tuned.

C’mon Man!

Lately one of the NFL telecasts on Sunday has a segment they call “C’mon Man”

It’s usually commentary, video of unbelievable stuff, stuff that just makes you scratch your head.  I just wish to say the same thing to Jeep and their commercials about the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I’m sure some use it off road, they might actually care about the steel skid plate. And the fact that the wheels are closer together and it can climb higher. But for a lot of us, the most climbing I do is over a curb and in the grass at the ballpark when there are no more parking spaces. So…

C’mon Man! Just make a door handle that will last, after all I use it every day! Design the pivot point out of metal. Or at least make a reasonable replacement. You could have used stamped metal just like where the door pull screws to. Not that hard. I’m not an engineer, but the U-shaped bracket I designed would be better than cheap plastic molded into an entire door panel. I realize your design looks great… at least for a while. But then the cracks, and crumbling start.

Maybe the door handle has been updated since 2005. I hope so. Maybe it was just a bad batch of plastic. Who knows for sure, except maybe Jeep. If it was defective, then TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS! They won’t forget. Don’t take care of them, and they won’t forget that either.

All the millions you’re spending on those cheesy commercials, could have been used to take care of your current and soon to be repeat customers.  But I can say one thing, those commercials will not make me want to buy a new Jeep

Find all the other problems that happen continuously on the previous models and engineer it better. If you do, you’ll have dedicated customers that will buy again and again.  Or keep crap coming and go bankrupt. Your choice. Because I don’t think there will be any more bail outs any time soon.
